Kunsthaus Zürich presents “Cantastorie” at the gallery’s home venue.Kunsthaus Zürich presents an exhibition entitled “Cantastorie”, which a fascinating and unknown accumulation of images and image cycles, were handed down from one generation to the next in two families of minstrels and puppeteers from Naples and Foggia who used them to place great cultural issues literally before an audience. In a certain way, these were the first comics, full of beautiful princesses, valiant knights, chaotic battles, gruesome tales and voracious monsters. The ‘Cantastorie’ are unquestionably a sensuous, humorous and instructive feast for the eyes, but they also need explanations to bring their content to life. The gallery is transforming the venerable exhibition gallery and its more than 1,000 m2 of space into a marketplace, a venue for lively exchange, with concerts, events and parties. With its exceptional collection and internationally acclaimed exhibitions the Kunsthaus Zürich attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft is the Association of Friends of the Kunsthaus Zürich, counts more than 20’000 members and is therefore one of the largest and oldest art societies in Europe. There is also the Kunsthaus art education program, which includes school programs, continued learning classes as well as leisure time classes, serves children, adolescents and adults. A well-rehearsed team of professional art educators and art historians looks forward to welcoming you at the Kunsthaus. The exhibition will be on view from August 25 through October 8, 2017 at Kunsthaus Zürich, Heimplatz 1, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland.
